芒福德的名言：“城市是文化的容器.”的确,不同的城市面貌、街道景观,是我们区别、认识不同文化最直接的途径.城市建筑被称为“凝固的音乐”,它承载、凝固的不仅仅是建筑艺术,而且是不同时代的社会文化、历史文化、民族文化、地域文化、政治文化等等.
中国现代大都市的形成主要源自两种不同的历史：一是部分口岸城市：如上海、香港、大连等,在殖民统治或租界时期,主要是在外国人的管理下形成的今天的城市格局和面貌；二是历史文化古城：如北京、南京、西安等,主要是在近几十年的社会变迁中,由中国人自己管理、建设和改造,形成的今天的城市面貌.
建筑师和规划专家认为,二战以来在现代主义理论指导下以大规模改建为特征的城市更新运动,在西方几乎没有成功的先例,应该认识到“社区发展”规划、渐进式规划、公共选择规划、历史街区修复、小规模改建、住户自建等多种新的理论和实践的价值.本文将从北京和南京城市规划形成的比较,从五十年代到九十年代的新北京,城市建设的“香港模式”,建筑中的流行文化,十字路口的城市五个方面简要介绍一下城市建设文化.

The architect and plans the expert to believe that since World War II under the modernism theory instruction take the large-scale reconstruction as the characteristic urban renewal movement,has not had the success precedent nearly in the West,should realize “the community develops” the plan,the evolution type plan,the public choice plan,the historical block repair,the small scale reconstruction,the inhabitant from to construct and so on many kinds of new theories and the practice value.This article the comparison which will form from Beijing and the Nanjing urban planning,from the 50s to the 90s's new Beijing,the urban construction “Hong Kong pattern”,in the construction pop culture,the crossroad street intersection's urban five aspects will introduce the urban construction culture briefly.
