两个up to都是一个意思吧,为什么前一个后面带了一个to,而后一个没带呢?

选A：the 20th century = "第"二十世纪 a century ago = 一个世纪以前.
两个over 的意思是不一样的：
the Qing dynasty was over in.清朝在.的时候就 "结束了" >>这个是"Game over" 游戏结束里面的"结束"
over a century ago.= "超过" 一个世纪以前.这里over 是"不只、超过" 的意思,例：My older brother's height is over 180 cm.我哥哥的身高超过180 厘米.
第二题：
意思完全不一样,因为───其实只有一个 up to!
1.they can "grow up" (长大) to be 20 cm long (到20 厘米这麼长)
2.they can weigh "up to" 400 grams 他们的重量可以"达到" 400克.

你这两个问题的关键就是要把句子的不同部分给分清楚.
先找出最最基本的句子：They can grow up.
给自己问问题：长大?能长到多大?
答案就是句子里面其他加上去的资讯/ 修饰：they can grow up "to be 20 cm long." (能长到20厘米这麼大/ 这麼长.)
这个也一样：It ended ("他结束了" 超基本句子>>问：什麼时候?) over a century ago.(答：超过一个世纪以前)
只要看到复杂的句子就这样理解,先找基本的句子,然後一边自问自答,一边加上其他的部分.
有时候看到顺序跟我们中文不一样的会很难理解,你只要这样做就会容易很多了.
最後一题：she keeps him busy on the weekend.她让他一周末都忙著,忙著干什麼?
忙著 going to clubs.这里going 分词 = 基本上就是拿动词当副词用.
例：The pig died.猪死了.>>怎麼死的?The pig died trying to swim.(它是尝试学游泳而死的.)
以此类推,基本上所有的动词都有这种形式.
