Over usage of plastic bags have resulted in serious environmental pollution as well as waste of natural resources. As is known to all, a plastic bad disposed and buried in the soil takes the earth years and even decades to degrade. These have all added to the importance of the ban on plastic bags. The Ban advocates that people rely on traditional bamboo baskets instead of plastic bags, and reuse and recycle as much as possible in order to protect the environment. Gladly enough, the usage of plastic bags in supermarkets and shopping malls has dropped greatly since the government released the Ban. It significantly reduced the use of plastic bags and raised the public awareness of environmental protection, which should be extended to other areas as well.
