Sickness Rules
If the Employee is absent due to sickness or injury:
1.The Employee must ensure that the Employer is notified prior to the start of the official opening hours of the practice of the likely duration,and must keep him informed on the Monday morning of each subsequent week throughout the absence.
2.The Employee must complete a certificate of absence due to sickness(available from the Employer) for any period of absence of less than eight days,and must produce a doctor’s medical certificate for all periods of absence of more than seven days.
3.The Employee’ s entitlement to statutory sick pay during periods of absence,as provided for in the Employee’s Statement of Terms o Employment,will depend upon proper compliance with the requirements set out above.
Disciplinary Rules
1.Purpose of the procedure.The Employer’s aim is to encourage improvement in individual conduct and performance.This procedure sets out the action which will be taken when the rules are breached.
2.Principles.If you are subject to disciplinary action:the procedure is designed to establish the facts quickly and to deal consistently with disciplinary issues.No disciplinary action will be taken until the matter has been fully investigated.
at every stage you will be advised of the nature of the complaint,be given the opportunity to state your case,and be represented or accompanied by a fellow employee of your choice
you will not be dismissed for a first breach of discipline except in the case of gross misconduct,when the penalty will normally be dismissal without notice(see notice periods )and without pay in lieu of notice.
You have a right to appeal against any disciplinary action taken against you
The procedure may be implemented at any stage if your alleged misconduct warrants such action.
