齐桓公
齐桓公（前716－前643年10月7日）,春秋五霸之首,公元前685－前643年在位,春秋时代齐国第十五位国君,吕氏,名小白.是齐僖公最小的三儿子,其母为卫国人.在齐僖公长子齐襄公和其侄子公孙无知相继死于内乱后,吕小白与公子吕纠争位成功,即国君位为齐桓公.桓公任管仲为相,推行改革,实行军政合一、兵民合一的制度,齐国逐渐强盛.桓公于前681年在甄（今山东鄄城）召集宋、陈等四国诸侯会盟,是历史上第一个充当盟主的诸侯.当时中原华夏各诸侯苦于戎狄等部落的攻击,于是齐桓公打出“尊王攘夷”的旗号,北击山戎,南伐楚国,成为中原第一个霸主,受到周天子赏赐.但其晚年昏庸,管仲去世后,任用易牙、竖刁等小人,最终在内乱中饿死.

Duke Huan of Qi (716 BC - October 7,643 BC),is the most powerful of the Five Hegemons of the in the Spring and Autumn Period of Chinese History.He is the fifteenth ruler of the state of Qi in the Spring and Autumn Period of Chinese history.His ancestral name is Jiang(是姜,不是吕),,given name is Xiǎobái.He is the third and youngest son of Duke Xi of Qi,son of a mother from the state of Wei.After Duke Xiang,the eldest son of Duke Xi,and Wuzhi,nephew of Duke of Xi were both killed in a civil war,Xiǎobái triumphed over his elder brother Jiu in the struggle for succession and became Duke Huan of Qi.Duke Huan appointed Guan Zhong to be the prime minister,carried out political reforms,consolidated military and political authority,militarized civilians,gradually increasing the might of the State of Qi.In the year of 681 BC,Duke Huan called for a gathering of rulers of the states of Song,Chen and others at the city of Zhen (present day Zhen City of Shangdong),making himself the first ever state ruler to host a political pact conference.At the time,many of the Chinese states were under attacked by barbarian tribes,therefore Duke Huan promoted the slogan of "respecting the king and defending against the barbarian" and waged successful wars against the Beirong people of the North and the state of Chu in the south,becoming the foremost power among the Chinese states and honored by the Zhou Emperor.However,he became senile during his later years and favored corrupt minsters such Yi Ya and Shu Diao,and ended up starving to death during internal strife.
