on my frist day at school,i as a foreign student,couldn't speak a word of english .i felt lost and terrified when i set foot in the classroom.one person made that year bearable for me :my teacher,Mrs.collins.
without taking all her attention away from the other students,she'd help me sound out "see spot run "and"Tomis a boy".back then,there were really no tools to help teach english as a second language ,but Mrs.collins never doubted that i would catch up.
as Mrs.collins cheered me on ,i gained confidence and bad a good grasp on reading.with the reading competition coming up,i worked as i could .the day finally came ,and i was so nervous.
when Mrs.collinsannounced that i was the winner in front of the whole class,it was my proudest moment.i recrived a fancy certificate and a blue ribbon that Mrs.collins pinned to my dress.i worked even harder in school from then on.
as i began enjoying success as a singer ,i mentioned Mrs.collins in interviews when i was asked about people who had inspired me.
Mrs.collins taught me a lesson that i've never forgotten .i can't tell you have many times the enlightened spirit she in stilled in me has guided me through challenges in my life .i fell blessed that the universe brought Mrs.collins and me together all those years ago.
