5.ATST CONTROL SERVICES (ATCS)
The ATCS provides the following services:
5.1.LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT
This service is provided through a standard container/component model.While the implementation of the lifecycle management is currently TBD,it includes the following features:
• Component start,stop,and status monitoring
• Resource allocation and reallocation
• Configuration control through a configuration database.
5.2.SERVICES SUPPORT
ATCS containers provide access to the common services for all modules (commonly called components -but renamed modules to avoid confusion with Virtual Instrument Components),guaranteeing consistent interfaces with other parts of the ATST system while freeing the module developers from having to reimplement common system interfaces and allowing developers to concentrate on their functional interfaces.Containers allow the separation of the logical behavior of a module from its physical location.
5.3.COMMAND/ACTION
The Command/Response interface provided by ATCS is the basic mechanism for all Component control.The Command/Response interface is modelled after similar approaches used in Gemini and SOLIS and is described detail in TBD.Briefly,the act of commanding a system to perform some action is separated from the response from that system when the action is complete.
