Advantages:

(1) It is the independency, because the source of un-distributed profits are from the company's internal capital / funds. Listed company has a more freedom to use them, only if it has been approved in the AGM or by the company directors.
(2) Low cost, retained profits need not to pay the related capital cost directly. At the same time, it could make a lot of savings on expensive fees of issuing new equities or company bonds. they only show as the opportunity costs and not the financail costs.
(3) Low risk, one of the reasons, which is something to do with its low costs, another thing is that it has no payment crisis, and it would not lead to any financial risk when there is no payment crisis.

Disavantages:
It's the limitation. it is affected by the comapny's profitablilities in a high degree, the size of financing / funding has the bigger limitaion.
