Can't remember exactly how long, but it seems all of a sudden the environment surrounding us start to deteriorate at an staggering speed. The sky no longer looks blue like it was when I was little. The commuters waiting for the train at the subway station all wear face masks. The entire city just gets shrouded in never ending mist.

Despite growing anger and frustration regarding environmental issues from the public, people tend to ask this question “Who's fault is it to blame?", the answer to this, though it is a shame to admit, is us. In fact, every single one of us should be held responsible for what our planet suffers. Surely many would find this answer difficult to accept as the usual scapegoats are major factories where hugh amount of fossil fuels are consumed on the daily basis. But it really doesn't need that much of the insight to realize, the majority of the waste products are produced and discharged to environment by urban dwellers like us. The vehicles we drive to work everyday, the cool air we enjoyed in hot summer day by operating air conditioner. All those indulgence of our daily life which we take for granted are at the cost of our vulnerable ecosystem.

But there are things we can do to stop this, at least for the sake of our children, we need to preserve a sustainable environment. Many people wrongly believe individual efforts like saving water and electricity, going to work by cycling etc. are meaningless in a global scale. However, it is wrong because if we spread the idea, the action of one person will start to gain momentum and transform into group action or even larger scale, a social reform. In the end, just like the line from my favorite advertisement states “together, we can change the world!"
