第一个问题:新概念第4册第五课第10行有句话：they have an air of freedom,and they have not a dreary commitment to mean ambitions or love of comfort.第一个逗号后面"they have not a dreary "为什么用not?而不是no have在这里不是助动词吧?
第二个问题：第七课13行It has been found that certain bats emit squeaks and by receiving the echoes,they can locate and steer clear of obstacles.逗号不能连接两个完整句子么?为什么这里可以?

1.not a=no楼主看清not后有个a.如果是no 应该是have no sth..
have此处为实义动词,表示“有”
have/has/had只有在表示完成时的时候是助动词.
2.这个句子里
and之后的"by receiving the …………of obstacles."是另一个句子,暂且称之为句子2.
by receiving the echoes,是句子2的状语.
如果and直接连接they can locate………….就不正确,但是and后跟的只是一个短语,而不是一个完整的句子.
所以可以咯.
have此处为实义动词,表示“有”
have/has/had只有在表示完成时的时候是助动词.
