If you are asking me about colleges,that is a big topic!I need for you to narrow it down a little.
If you are asking about vacations during the school year,I can answer this right now.
The school calendar varies by county.In the county where I live,the schools begin the third Monday in August.The students get the first Monday in September as a holiday (the US Labor Day).The students also get various teacher "work days" as holidays during the year.I think the number is about 6 or 7.The students are on Christmas Break right now.The actual dates vary year to year depending on the day of the week that Christmas falls but this year they are off from December 16 - January 2nd.The students go back to school on the 3rd.They also have January 16th as a holiday and a day in February.The students get three days off for Thanksgiving and 5 days for Spring Break.Our schools are over the 4th Friday in May.
As you can see,the students get LOTS of holidays!If it snows,they don't go to school either (we don't have the equipment to clear the roads).Sometimes I wonder do they ever go to school?Last year they had 12 school days off for Christmas and it snowed the day they returned.They were off another 6 school days due to snow.

现在你看到了吧,学生们有相~多的假期!如果下雪了,他们也不用去上课（没有设备清扫街道）.有时候我都奇怪他们到底去不去学校?去年他们在圣诞有12天的学校假日,他们回校的那天下雪了.因为下雪他们又休息了6个该上学的日子.
