Two kinds of people exist in this world：clean people and people who have found millions of ways tO avoid cleaning their rooms．
I belong to the latter because I am a teenager．Like all teenagers I am too busy
pretending to be receiving an education t0 worry that scientists owe 52 percent of global warming to the bad smell that escapes from my bedroom window． Before all you
environmentalists get too angry,1 want you tO know that I closed my window last week．
Don’t think the messy state of my room doesn’t bother me,it does．Every night I go To sleep,haunted(受折磨)by the thought that a(n) iron I lost three years ago is somewhere in my room still plugged in and waiting to start a fire． Another thing that worries me is my fish．
I haven’t got around to cleaning their tank this year．I can’t tell if they,re alive or not． A few weeks ago my mother ordered me to clean my room．She said：·'Tracie．you will not eat,sleep,or breathe until you clean up your room．
I responded,‘'Mum,did I teU you I got an A on my physics test yesterday?’’
“You don’t even take physics,Tracie,SO how can you get an ,
My Mum was cleverer than I thought,SO I decided to ignore the question and change the topic．
“Did you know that most kids today watch ten and a half hours of’Iv?And high school students score an average of 500 points lower 0n the SATs than the kids in your generation.,
“No!Really?Well,Tracie,that’s just Olle more example of how the weak familv values of today affect the minds and education of the kids your age．Oh!I forgot to take the bread out ofthe oven!”
I smiled to myself for once again distractiIlg(分散注意力)my mother with perfectly useless and untrue“facts"．Therefore,I avoided the dangerous task of cleaning my room．
Then I turned and observed the big pile of smelly waste．But I am just t00 lazy to
disturb the natural flow of things．

我窃喜于自己再一次用丝毫没有作用又不真实的“事实”分散了我妈妈的注意力.因此,我又可以免于打扫房间这危险的差事了.
接着我转过身来,看着一大堆的臭味熏天的垃圾.但是我真的懒到不愿去破坏这自然的造物.
