Shawn M.McKinney,37,of Rockbridge,was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by troopers from the Athens Post of the State Highway Patrol,according to a news release from Hocking County Sheriff Lanny North.
Troopers found McKinney was in possession of marijuana.Deputies were contacted by troopers and while investigating the origin of the drugs,found evidence that McKinney had more marijuana growing inside his home.
Detectives from the Fairfield-Hocking Major Crimes Unit executed a search warrant on McKinney's residence and found about 14 plants set up in a grow room in the basement.
Detectives also seized several pieces of drug paraphernalia and two firearms.
McKinney was taken to SEORJ and has been charged with illegal manufacture of marijuana,possession of marijuana; having weapons while under disability and child endangering.
