Mark Owen has retired as a traffic police offcer.He worked on some of the widest but busiest ways in the US.There are traffic police on duty twenty-four hours a day.Three people work in a day and each works for eight hours.During eight hours there are about three or four accidents.Here is Mark Owen talking about his job.
“I dealt with anyone in the accident who has hurt.That was the first thing.Then I has to get the traffic moving again.
Most accidents hoppend when prople drive too fast-especially when the roads and wet.Sometimes accidents happen because the drivers don't follow the rules.And it is more possible for drivers without safely belts to have accidents .Some drivers like to make a call or talk with people while they drive.It's very dangerous.
Sometimes when I worte a ticket to people they would try to find a lot of excusee.One day,three was one guy who was driving too fast,and I wanted to write him a ticket.But he asked me not to,and explained that he was just testing out his car.What an excuse!People always say that when they are caught driving too fast.Of course he got the ticket.It was necessary for him to hnow that he had to follow the reles not only for himself but for others .
I like my job.I had a different working day.I never knew what I was going to do the next day.And I met all kinds of people.I don't think there are any other jobs that can give me that kind of feeling.”

我喜欢我的工作.每天的工作都是不一样的,我永远不知道明天会发生什么.我遇到过各种各样的人,我觉得除去交通警察,这世上没有任何其他工作可以带给我这种感觉.
