2.Definition of China English
As English is being spoken by such a vast number of people,its varieties are also increasing.British English and American English,which have been traditionally regarded as the only two varieties of standard English,are now only two world- English among many.According to Kachru,these two English fall into three increasingly well-known categories:The first is the Inner Circle,where English is the mother tongue.It includes countries like Australia,Canada,Ireland,New Zealand,the United Kingdom,and the United states; the second is the Outer Circle,where English is used as an additional institutionalized official language,though not a mother tongue.It includes Bangladesh,Ghana,India,Kenya,the Philippines and so on.Many people in these countries can use English fluently; the third is the Expanding Circle,where English is used as a foreign language.The countries in this circle are mainly China,Korea,Nepal,Russia and several in South America（Kachru,1998:98）.
However,some countries are now standing between the Outer and Expanding Circles.Although English is not an official language in Sweden or the Netherlands,a large proportion of their populations have mastered the English language to such a high degree that English in these Expanding-Circle countries is used in a manner very similar to the way it is used in the countries of the Outer Circle.
China English,as a branch of the expanding circle,constitutes a variety of English language.With its Chinese feature,it enriches the vocabulary of the language,broadening its range of appliance.As a matter of fact,every language,like culture,is not self-sufficient.On the contrary,it is under the stimuli outside its own domain.Through conflicting,assimilating and absorbing,new and energetic factors enters the old entity and change it constantly as the process repeats with the time passing by.And actually,some Chinese expressions have become part of English,they have been well acknowledged by native speakers and encounter no problem in everyday use.
With Chinese characteristics entering communication in English,the definition of China English would be proposed here based on the vocabulary,sentences,and discourses cored with Standard English.
