Jinnah was born into a merchant's family in Karachi.He was called to the Bar in England when he was not yet eighteen years old.He came back to India two years later,and soon became a renowned lawyer in Bombay.In 1896,he began to participate in politics by joining the Indian National Congress.In 1913,he joined the All India Muslim League.Jinnah resigned from the Congress by 1920 due to political disagreement with Indian National Congress(particularly Gandhi).In the late 1930s and early 1940s,Indian Independence Movement reached a new peak.At the same time,the outcry from ninety million Muslims in India for independence grew stronger due to differences in history,religions,languages and cultures.Jinnah actively participated and led this fight for independence.All India Muslim League became the most influential political organization among all Muslims in India.From 22 to 24 March,1940,All India Muslim League held a conference in Lahore,Jinnah hosted the conference.The Pakistan Resolution was adopted in this conference.On 23 March of the same year,Jinnah declared to one hundred thousand Muslims came from all over India that 'the northwestern and eastern regions(today's Bangladesh) of India where Muslims are the majority,should be independent sovereign state.
