Requirements:Randomly choose
one topic out of two,and organize a short conversation with another
student.The conversation shall not be less than 3 minutes,or longer
than 5 minutes.The oral exam will be closed-book with NO NOTES allowed.
Topic 1:
You are a sales manager.An
Australian businessman has ordered form you USD 200,000 of art goods
from you.He is very careful about the packing,and keeps asking you
questions.The following points are for your reference:
(1) the art goods should be wrapped individually in soft material
(2) they should be packed in cardboard boxes first and then ten boxed packed into each wooden case
(3) the packing should be seaworthy
(4) packing should be economical
(5) packing should make handling as easy as possible
Topic 2:
Suppose
you are htving a talk with a Japanese merchant about the time of
shipment.He asks you to make shipment in March.The reason is that he
wants to place the goods on the market in time,and explain there are
still a lot of things to do after shipment.Owing to the hetvy
commitment on hand,you are not in a position to do so.The best you can
do is in the middle of April.Discuss about how to do your best to
advance the shipment.
Japanes:Can you please make shipment in March?
You:I am sorry but the best I can do is the middle of April as this is how it was scheduled per our last phone call.
J:I need you do me a favour to ship it earlier to allow us time for preparation before placing it on the market in time.
Y:Unfortunately we have other commitments on hands but it looks good to deliver your shipment in middle of April.
J:understood.Is it possible to advance my shipment?
Y:I am not quite positive but I will certainly talk my other customers to see if anyone is ok to delay their shipment.
J:Sounds good.When will you be able to update me on this?
Y:I should have a response for you tomorrow 11am.
J:That will be great.I will call you then.Appreciate helping .
J:Any good news?
Y:Yes.One of my customer is willing to adjust their order and that makes it possible to advancce your shipment to March 22nd.
