Eagle Catching Chickens

Before playing this game, you have to find as many people as possible; it will be the best if you can get all the children together in your community.

First, choose two guys among the group, generally the two strongest ones, one as the vicious eagle and the other as the brave hen, all the others will act as chickens.

Second, the first chicken holds tightly the back part of the hen’s coat, the second holds his… until a long line is formed by all the chickens. The line doesn’t have to be straight; any shape is ok in theory.

Third, the hungry eagle makes all attempts to catch the chickens, while the hen is expected to spare no effort to protect her children. As long as a certain chicken is not caught by the eagle, he has the chance to go on enjoying the game.

Last but not least, when the hen tries her best to frustrate the eagle’s every attack, the chickens must see to it that they stand right behind their mother; also, they should hold the last chicken’s coat tightly enough because the hen doesn’t have the ability to protect the chicken that are broken away from the line, that is to say, if, let’s say, the third chicken lets go of the second one, all the chickens from him to the last one will be caught at one time by the eagle according to the rules.

Lastly, on the eagle’s part, he can use uncertain moments to make the hen unsure whether he’s going to the left side or to the left side. Due to the length of the line, it does take some time for the hen to keep every chicken right behind her, and so appear the opportunities of the eagle, with which he can catch the chickens much more easily.
