1.宏观与微观、整体与局部相结合
宏观社会工作是指在国家统一规划、统一安排、统一领导下,以谋求全体社会成员的福利,解除人民的痛苦、灾难,提高人民生活水平,满足人民精神文明需要为总目标而开展的各种社会救助、社会福利和社会服务活动,微观社会工作是指社会工作职能部门所承担的不同类型的社会工作,它的工作范围局限于某一个地区、某一种对象,目前很多国家已经注意到综合发展各项社会工作,建立完整的社会保障体系的紧迫需要.
2.积极与消极、预防与治疗相结合
社会工作的目的是解决社会问题.对于社会病态、社会失调等社会问题给予遏制、约束与矫正是必要的,但这只是其治疗的、消极的一面.社会工作的积极的一面是促进社会的健康发展,使社会的正常需要得到最大限度的满足,社会各项福利政策日益完善,社会秩序长久稳定,从而使社会失调、社会病态等现象失去滋长的土壤.
3.定性分析与定量分析相结合
作为社会工作的前提是有针对性地对社会问题进行调查研究,经过社会调查取得了正确的结论,才能避免工作的盲目性.定性分析与定量分析相结合使社会工作向高效率、高质量的高层次发展.
