2.试图控制传染病是徒劳的,设法尽快地检查出他们在一个社区的时候,它就会出现别的地方了.
defend是防止进攻的意思,这里的对象是疾病,不适合.
3.regressive 是和advances 相反的,就是人们不是一下子就学会使用火的,而是随着时间的流逝慢慢地在退化的阶段进行无数次的前进中学会的.
可能说得有点抽象.
