在杜克大学,有四名大二生,都是好朋友.他们都修读有机化学,且所有的测验、期中考试和实验都表现出色,且每一个都在学期中拿到“A”.
这四个朋友对自己如此有信心,所以大考之前的周末,他们决定出城和朋友去开派对.他们玩得很开心,但派对完结后,他们睡了整个星期天,赶回杜克大学时已是周一的早晨.
他们决定不参加大考,而在事后向教授解释为什么缺席.他们告诉教授说,他们出城度周末,本想赶回来温习,但不幸的是,在回程的路上车子爆胎,又没有备胎,等了很长时间才等到救援.这样一来,大考就赶不上了.
教授想了一想就表示让他们在第二天补考.「咻!这可放心了!」,小子们想.
他们温习了一夜,第二天就按教授指定时间回校.他们被安置在四间不同的房间,每人给递派一份试卷,并告诉他们开始作答.

At Duke University,there were four sophomores who were close friends.They were all taking Organic Chemistry.They were doing so well on all the quizzes,midterms and labs that each had an ‘A’ so far for the semester.
These four friends were so confident about themselves,so the weekend before finals,they decided to go out of town and party with some friends,instead of studying.They had a great time,but after all the partying,they slept all day Sunday and didn’t make it back to Duke until early Monday morning.
Rather than taking the final then,they decided that after the final their professor after the final and explain to him why they missed it.They told the professor that they had gone out of town for the weekend with the plan to come back in time to study,but unfortunately,they had a flat tire on the way back,didn't have a spare,and couldn't get help for a long time.As a result,they missed the final.
The professor thought it over and then agreed they could make up the final the following day."Phew!That's a relief," the guys thought.
They studied that night and went in the next day at the time the professor had told them.He placed them in four different rooms and handed each of them a test booklet,and told them to begin.
They looked at the first problem,worth five points.It was something simple."Cool," they thought at the same time,each one in his own room,"this is going to be easy." Each finished the problem and then turned the page.
