Talk show is defined in a Simplified Dictionary of Broadcasting and Television as "a commentary form of views on news or social issues through talk."
Talk show takes talk between people, the most basic, common, and direct means of communication, as the content and form of a program.
The origin of talk show can be traced back to the assembly in coffee bars of England in the 18`" century, where social issues were discussed. But its full development was found in America. In the 20`" century, with the emergence of broadcasting and the increasing popularity of public assembly, more and more people began to show interest in discussion through this new media, which gave rise to the formal emergence of talk show. Unlike today, the so-called talk show at that time is mostly monologues, in which a single expert addressed remarks to audience without the participation of the audience at all. From the year of 1933,
more forms of talks how appeared and the audience were given more opportunities to take an active part in the discussion. And in talk show, the focus of discussion was often put on some widely concerned social issues.
Especially since 1980s, talk show has turned into a huge trend and exerted a great influence on society. In America, various forms of talk show have accounted for 40% of total TV programs. It even draws the attention and criticism of Clinton society. Daytime TV talk show has special interest in revealing the privacy, and is called `TV trash'. It is strongly rejected by many people
