Liu xiang became a national hero after winning the gold medal with a record time of 12.91seconds in the Athens Olympic Games.Liu Xiang is the first Chinese ,as well as the first Asian in history to win he men's 110m hurdles at the Olympic Games.
When he was 15 years old,a well-known coach found him.The coach believed Liu Xiang would be a star in the future and persuaded Liu Xiang's parents to let Liu Xiang practice the 110m hurdls .In 2000,Liu Xiang stared his career with a great show in the World Youth Championships.He ranked number four in 110m hurdles and broke the World Youth and Asian record.In2001,he won the gold medal in World Student Games—Bei Jing,China 110m hurdles.In2002,Liu Xiang won the first IAAF Grand Prix in Lausanne with a world youth and Asian record time of 13.12seconds in the 110m hurdles .Two years later ,at Osaka,Liu Xiang managed to beat Johnson with an Asian -record time of 13.06seconds.This race brought confidence to Liu Xiang to chanlenge Olympic.At last ,Liu Xiang got the gold medal in Olympic Games in Athens.
"My goal is to set a new world record,"said Liu Xiang ,"My victory has proved that Asian athletes can run fast ,too."
