红梅公园位于常州市东北面,是市内最大的一个综合性公园,占地面积37公顷,其中水面积7公顷.公园的名称为什么起"红梅"二字呢?这是因为园内的著名古建筑-红梅阁而得名的.红梅公园的布局分三区八景,即文物古迹区,在公园的南部,有红梅阁和文笔塔.娱乐活动区在公园的西北部,有运动场、春晖茶室、青少年活动场所、游艇、听松楼和舞厅；另有科普教育区,在公园的东部,有动物园、盆景园、月季园和屠一道根艺藏珍馆等.在我国古都北京有著名的燕八景,那是人们到了北京后非去不可的地方,而在红梅公园里,根据各区景点的不同特色,也是分为八景：这就是红梅春晓、古刹钟声、曲池风荷、青峦倒影、凤桥花径、翠薇秋霞、孤山雪松、文笔夕照.
