The Day My World Ended - Holocaust
I could still remember that day when he announced millions of peoples' fate; the day when they captured us when we were still sleeping; the day when we were all sent to a world of living hell.I could still remember that year,1933,the day when the Furher passed the boycott law; demanding no one to purchase from jewish stores on that particular day.
As the Hitler came into power in 1933,his main aim was to
exterminate all the opponents.Nazis supported the Anti-Semitism wave
throughout the country.Several laws were passed to reduce the power and
position of Jews in the German society.The misfortune "The Night of
Broken Glass" paved the way for Hitler's intentions.A 17 year old boy
shot a German diplomat for his maltreatment towards his parents.Germans
used this excuse and killed more than ninety Jews openly,including my uncle and aunt.Around 500
synagogues were burned and most Jewish properties were smashed.The
first mass arrest of Jews also occurred and around 25,000 men were sent
to concentration camps.

In 1941,Germany attacked Soviet Union,home for 3
million Jews.German army shot all of the inhabitants of the villages
there.Special trucks were converted into portable gas chambers.As
Hitler advanced into the Soviet Union,the pace of killings got faster.
Over 33,000 Jews were shot in two days in September 1941.The Final
Solution was planned in 1942.Jews coming in trains were sent to gas
chambers saying that they will get showers to clean up themselves.
Poisonous gases and insecticides were used in the chambers to kill them.
In Poland,Jews were told that they were going into work camps but sent
into the gas chambers.My family was also sent into the gas chamber,but I was lucky to hide beneath a pile of corpses; and initially made my escape to the outside world.By June 1942,1 million of my people were already shot.
Approximately 3.5 million Jews were murdered in the death camps.In the
last months of Nazi regime,the prisoners were forced to march into the
areas still under the control of Hitler.About a quarter of a million
Jews died on these death marches.
