Duanwu-fest is one of the traditional festivals in our country. On the day, Chinese at home and abroad have some traditional deeds to celebrate it. On the eve of its approaching, each household is busy wrapping zongzih, a kind of Dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. It is said that it is in memory of Qu Yuan. They also say, this day is the duration of midsummer and people are apt to be afflicted with a disease brought by evil spirits. In order to exorcise them, children are dressed five-colourd silk thread around their arm when getting up on the morning of the day and adults have lunch with realgar wine. Another custom is that there is a dragon boat race in the rivers, so it is also called Dragon Boot Festival. Now, the festival has been listed in the intangible cultural heritage.
