第一段:"Poets say science takes away from the beauty of the stars-mere globs of gas atoms.Nothing is 'mere.' I too can see the stars on a desert night,and feel them.But do i see less or more?The vastness of the heavens stretches my imagination--stuck on this carrousel,my little eye can touch one-million-year-old light...For far more marvelous is the truth than any artists of the past imagined!Why do the poets who can speak of Jupiter if he were like a man,but if he is an immense spinning sphere of methane and ammonia must be silent?"

诗人说科学的美来自星星,他们仅仅是气体微尘团.没有任何事物是“唯一的”.在沙漠的夜空里我也能看到星星,并且感觉到了他们的存在.但是我看到更多的星星还是更少的呢?天空的广袤无垠让我思绪飞扬.我用小眼睛注视着旋转木马,似乎能看见一百万年之久的光.真理比过去的艺术家想象的要惊人得多!为何那些诗人把木星比作人类,却在知道木星是个充满沼气和氨气的巨体物之后沉默无语了呢?
