enormous undertaking,这里翻译成艰巨的任务,岂不更自然. undertaking 本就有事业（需要去完成的事情）的意思.
第一句里面的 successor 可能是难点,硬译成“京都议定书的继任者”怎么读怎么别扭.这里原文是想表达两内世界有望达成下一个类似于“京都议定书”的由各国代表签字的约束性公约.
