指放在上面的

a bridge over the river 河上的一座桥
在……的上方
above
在……的上方,就是无论中间隔了什么,垂直的上方
比如说 你住在5楼,我住一楼
就是 you live 4floors above me

in front of 在某个东西的前面,
例子,in front of you 在你前面
in the front of 在某个东西的前部
比如说你家里有个桌子,但这个桌子在你家里面,并且放在相对于其他物品的前方的
就是 the table is in the front of your home

但是 near 是附近的
比如 你紧挨着他坐着
you sit next to him 也可以说是you sit beside him
但是near就不大合适
但是如果说你家附近有个超市
就可以说是 there is a supermarket near your home
