1、Just as a factory requires a complete set of machinery to proceed with production, so does a
foreign-trade firm need extensive business connections to maintain or expand its business activities.
Therefore, the establishment of business relations is one of the important undertakings in the field
of foreign trade. In the first meeting, the following aspects should be considered.
• a. Presenting oneself in terms of one’s job;
• b. finding points of common interest so that the conversation can run smoothly;
• c. introducing the company or the business;
• d. showing interests in buying or selling a certain product.
To firms engaged in foreign trade, business connections are valuable. Therefore, traders must not
only do everything possible to consolidate their established relations with firms having previous
business but also develop and revitalize their trade by searching for new connections from time to time.
2、An offer of goods is usually make either by way of advertisement, circulars and letters or in reply to enquiries. This is the first step in business negotiation.
• In response to an enquiry, quotations may be sent. A satisfactory quotation will include the following:
• a. An expression of thanks for the enquiry.
• b. Details of prices, discounts and terms of payment.
• c. A statement or clear indication of what the prices cover (e.g. freight and insurance, etc.)
• d. An undertaking as to date of delivery or time of shipment.
• e. The period for which the quotation is valid.
It will conclude with an expression of hope that the quotation will be accepted.
A firm offer is a promise to sell goods at a stated price, usually within a stated period of time. The promise may be expressed, as when it takes the form of a letter; or it maybe implied, as when it
takes the form of a quotation that contains the words ”For acceptance within __days”, or similar qualifying words.
In making a firm offer, mention should be made of the time of shipment and the mode of payment
desired; in addition, an exact description of the goods should be given and ,if possible, pattern or sample sent.
It is to be noted that unlike a quotation, a firm offer, although not legally binding, is capable of
acceptance and one it has been accepted it cannot be withdrawn, but no reputable seller would risk his reputation by withdrawing his offer before the stated or agreed time.

b.对于货物,折扣,支付方式的细节介绍
c.一个关于价格里包含什么(例如运费和保险)的清晰描述
d,对于交货时间或装货时间的保证
e.报价的有效期
它的总结应该表达出希望报价被接受的感觉.当它是信件的形式时,承诺也许应该表达出来或暗示出来.当它以报价的形式呈现时应该包括“在几日内接受报价”的词语或相应资格的词语.
做一个实盘,注意事项里应该包括交货的时间和期望的交货方式.此外,应给出关于货物的准确描述.如果可能,要寄送样品.
值得注意的是,不像报价单一样,实盘尽管没有法律约束力,但是也是对接受的能力证明并且一旦被接受它就不能在取消.任何声誉好的买家都不会通过在规定或约定的时间前取消订单的方式来拿自己的声誉来冒险
