伊斯兰教主要分为逊尼和什叶两大派系,也有其他一些小派系（如哈瓦里吉派,伊斯玛仪派）.逊尼派被认为是主流派别,又被称为正统派,分布在大多数伊斯兰国家,中国穆斯林也大多是逊尼派；什叶派的信徒主要分布伊朗,还存在于其它一些国家和地区,比如伊拉克等国.
