The date is the date you must arrive at a port of entry office like an airport in Canada.
At admission,the immigration officer will stamp your passport and state a date,which is the last date your must renew your visitor's status or leave Canada.Without a date,it is 180 days for you to stay legally.
To renew your visitor's visa,download a form from www.cic.gc.ca 2 months before expiry and send it to Vergaville,Alberta.
Canada government won't check it you have left the country,so alot of Chinese stay longer than 180 days without any renewal.The status becomes illegal though.You can always re-instate your status after over-stay.
