Tom is four years old now.his father works in a middle school and teachers P.E.there.His mother works in a shop and his grandma looks after him at home.The boy is clever and always shoes that he knows more than his little friends too.
One morning Tom’s father left earlier.The school in which he works was going to hold a sports meeting that day.Of course he was going to be busier than any other teacher in his school.About two hours later Tom’s grandma felt sick.Her head hurt but she couldn’t go to see a doctor by herself.She called her son,but nobody answered.So she asked the little boy to go to tell his father about it.
As soon as Tom went out,he met his friend Henry.And he asked him to go there with him.The boys wanted to watch the sports meeting and they both went there happily.When they got to the school,there were a lot of people on the playground and the boys’ 400-metre relay race begen.They stopped to watch it.And Tom forgot what his grandma told him to do.Theywere attracted by the race.Henry asked,“Why is the front boy running so fast?”
Of course Tom didn’t know about it.He thought for a minute and said,“What a fool!Don’t you see the other boys with sticks in their hands are running after him?”

Tom was a gardener.He had no work to do for a few months.One day while walking in the street.he saw a sign for taking on a man who could grow flowers and trees well.Tom was so pleased that he went directly to answer the sign.There the master told Tom to bring his overalls(工作服)with him.Tom did what he asked .The master examined his overalls and then decided to let Tom have the job
Curiously Tom asked him why his overalls were so important.The maser said,"oh,your overalls are all with pathes(补丁) onknees.Ihave dismissed tow men whose were with pathes on the buttocks(臀部)

汤姆当然不知道为什么,他想了想说：“你们看到后面的人拿着棒子在追他么?”

汤姆是个园丁.他已经几个月没有工作了.有一天,当他在街上走的时候,看到了一张招聘启示,找能好好照料花和树的人.汤姆很高兴地直接去应聘了.可是老班要他带上他的工作服.他照做了.老班检查了工作服以后,决定雇佣他.
汤姆很好奇,问为什么工作服很重要.老班说：“啊,你的工作服上有很多膝盖上的补丁,而我已经拒绝了两个臀部有补丁的人.”
