Talk about the differences between Chinese and Western ways of dining out with our friends.
A:Do you think there are great differences between Chinese and Western ways of dining out with our friends?
B:Yes,of course .There is different culture backgrounds between Chinese and Westerners which influence our manners.Such as the ways of eating when they are dining out.
A:Can you explain it in details?What is the difference in your eyes?
B:Of course,the main difference on the Chinese dinner table is chopsticks instead of knife and fork.But in Western,you should identify dinner table knife and fork,including a total of:butter knife,bread plate,the former vegetable knife and fork,knife and fork to use the main course,with soup spoon,dessert spoon with fork,glass of red wine,white wine glasses.
A:Yeah,they think it is hard to use chopsticks while we consider knives and forks so complicated.And they use so many knives and forks in a party.And any other things in differences?
B:Western dinner is rather simple.There are so few dishes.I am afraid I would be starving at a western dinner.
A:That’s true.A Chinese dinner is usually much more plentiful.Even at a simple family dinner we have at least three dishes and a soup.
B:And do you know some of the differences between the languages they have dinner?
A:Westerners often say that,“Please pass the pepper for me.Thank you,” instead of reaching for condiments by themselves.If there is anything to temporarily leave the party,they would say” I wonder if I could go somewhere.”
B:What’s more,the western style of eating seem to be more hygienic(卫生).Nobody uses his own fork to get food for himself or for others.
A:It is really so.But I don’t think any one of them are bad manners.As I am Chinese,I love our Chinese ways of dining out with our friends.
