Nowadays in China,both adults and children are troubled by the so-called puppy love.In some teachers and parents’ opinion,those precocious children are to blame.However,I believe that the problem is caused by the whole Chinese society.
To be exactly,western people and Chinese people have different understandings of puppy love,so western society and Chinese society treat puppy love differently.Western people usually think that puppy love is just shallow romantic attachment associated with adolescents and it’s nothing serious.So the western society can accept children have puppy love.A friend of mine has told me that her Swedish cousin’s families get along well with his little girlfriend and the girl often has dinner with his family.What’s more,she sometimes lives in his house.Well,born and living in China,can you imagine these things happen to you?In China,having puppy love is believed to be wrong.Most parents hold the opinion that puppy love is just like the serpent that temped Eve and it will influence children’s studies without doubt.Thus,adults including parents and teachers try all kinds of means to stop puppy love and society also doesn’t accept puppy love.By this token,the problem of puppy love only exists in China in some ways.It has Chinese characteristics.
To some extent,puppy love is youngsters’ nature.When kids are in their teens,they are no longer ignorant.They become interested in the opposite sex,so it’s natural for adolescents to have affections for the opposite sex.Chinese adults try their best to eliminate puppy love.Parents and teachers tell the children not to make friends with the opposite sex and even a law is made to stop puppy love.Here are two facts.According to a recent interview in a key high school in Beijing,as many as 95.7% parents oppose their kids to make heterosexual friends while only half of the children object to making heterosexual friends.This summer,a law in which stopping puppy love is classified as family protecting content is passed in Heilongjiang to protect minors.It’s ordained that parents or guardians should stop and rectify the behaviours of puppy love and criticize and educate the children having puppy love.Making law to snuff the youngsters’ nature is both absurd and woeful,isn’t it?
As far as I can see,it’s both the Chinese traditional culture and modern cultural changes that result in this problem.It’s a Chinese tradition that parents hope their children to succeed and become somebody.They attach great significance to education but don’t know the scientific education methods.Both parents and teachers only focus on children’s grades while they ignore other important things such as sex education and love education,which causes the children to have no idea how to deal with love affairs.In addition,since we are living in a modern and open era,children have access to many novels,comics and TV series about love.They are more likely to have puppy love.Because of a lack of love education,some of them are not able to balance their love and studies,which causes their performances to decline.This worries parents and teachers very much and thy often use improper and rude approaches to stop puppy love,only to makes the children very annoyed and has little effect.
As is mentioned above,Chinese parents and teachers don’t attach much significance to love education.They are not aware of the importance of love education and their own mistakes,have no idea how to provide love education and always blame the children.Personally,I think china’s love education is much too lagging.This is where the problem of China’s puppy love problems really lies.To solve the problem,some extra education is indispensable.Firstly,parents and teachers must learn how to educate children correctly.We can learn from some western countries.They have mature education system.Secondly,parents and teachers must help children develop correct philosophy,values and outlook on love.This,instead of stopping puppy love,is what adults really need to do in hopes of their achieving success.
