the book the origin of species by charles darwin is probably one of the most famous books ever writen by a scientis,yet it is a book which the writer did not want to pubish;he only agreed to make his theory known to the public when he was forced to by his friends
in 1831,the british government sent a ship called beagle to south america to make maps of the coast,darwin was a young man in his twenties who had studies science in edinburgh and cambridge.through a friend,he was offere the job of studying the plants and animals of the different countries that the beagle was to vist,darwin's father told him not to go,and the captain of the beagle said that he did not like the shape of darwin' nose;but that did not stop him,and in december of that year,darwin sailed for south america.he spent five years on the ship,collecting many stamps and writing down his observations about the living things he found
when he returned to england,he tried to work out a theory to explain what he dad observed .it was clear that many species were connected with each other in some way,without being exactly
the same.why was this?tow years after his return,he developed a theory; only the strongest or the clevrerst could survive difficult conditions .over time,the species change slowly to fit the enironment.different environmens produce different species
