英语句子,
my parents died young,I have done well in this respect as regards my other ancestor.
书上的翻译是：虽然我的父母去世的比较早,但是我的别的祖先都活的比较长寿
但是I have done well in this respect,我在这方面做的比较好,
我查了很多对这篇文章的翻译,都没有把这一节译出来,为什么?这是多余的吗?

不太好理解,其实是这样的.
I have done well in this respect as regards my other ancestor.
这句话后面的as regards my other ancestor只能翻译成“相较于我的其他祖先”
但是他为什么可以翻译成“我的别的祖先都活的比较长寿”呢?这也就是“I have done well in this respect”这个部分的功能.
与我的祖先相比,我这方面做得不错.也就是说：我的祖先活得不长（没我长）
他翻译的时候就和在一起翻了.
