Athird of US teenagers send more than 100 text messages a day,according to a survey of the Pew Research Center in the US.Young people prefer text-messaging to communicate with friends no matter where they are.They even want to do it under the noses of parents and teachers.It seems that some teens just can't stop texting.This could be bad for their studies and health.
Think texting is harmless?Ask Annie Levitz,a 16-year-old girl from Lincolnshire,Illinois.Annie lost feeling in her hands after sending over 100 texts a day from her mobile phone.She will have to have surgery on her wrists in order to fix the problem.
But texting isn'all bad.It helps to make our lives better in me ways.Today many teens greet each other on holidays by sending letters helps me save my pocket money,"said Chen Qi,16,a boy from Sichuan."It's also eco-friendly becuase it saves paper."
Texting can improve relationships between young people and their parents.In the US,many parents send their kids texts instead of shouting at them.Some say texts are more friendly than spoken messages.
It's also easier for teenagers to accept them.Jacky Longwell,45,of McLean,Virginia said:"It's not as hurtful for them to hear it by text.It sounds better."
