The 11th Olympic Games were held in Berlin in 1936.At that time,fascism(法西斯主义）was running wild in Europe.Hitler said his 'Aryyan race'(雅利安民族）was the best among all the people.He wanted to prove it at the games. Twenty-two-year-old US athlete Jesse Owens was African American.He felt stressed because of the Games.In the long jump,he failed in his first two jumps.His rival,the top German long jumper Luz Long,came up to him and said a few word of encouragement.Ownens succeeded in his last jump.When he won the gold,Long congratulated him with a hug in front of everyone. 'It took a lot of courage for him to befriend me in front of Hitler,'Owners later said.'You can melt down (熔化）all the medals and cups i have.They don't compare to the pure gold of the friendship i felt for Luz Long at that time.'
