2.The truck model is based on the H20-44 truck design loadings included in the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) specifications [18],its total mass is approximately
19 tons.This truck has been used by other authors,e.g.[19,5].Mechanical properties are summarized in Table 1,eigenmodes and eigenfrequencies of the truck model are shown in Fig.2.
Linear behaviour for suspensions and tyres is assumed,although nonlinear suspensions or wheels could be also employed without any additional complication in this framework.Models of this type with linear suspensions and tyres are widely used in the literature (e.g.[8,20]) and are considered to represent vehicles with sufficient precision in vehicle–bridge interaction problems.In this work vehicles are considered in normal running conditions,hence suspension system nonlinearities are not taken into account.The methodology could be also easily extended to other kind of vehicles:trucks with more than two axles,cars,articulated lorries,etc.
