介词 to 与 for 用法详解
（摘自湖南大学出版社的《英语语法详解》）
(1) 某些带双宾语的动词,当双宾语要互换位置时,通常要用介词 to 引出间接宾语(表示对象).这些动词常见的有：bring,give,hand,lend,offer,pass,pay,return,read,send,show,tell,write等).如：
I gave a book to him./ I gave him a book).我给了他一本书.
Could you lend your bike to me?/ Could you lend me your bike?请借你的自行车给我好吗?
(2) 表示“对……来说”,比较 to 与 for 的区别：
①在 necessary,good,easy,difficult,hard,impossible,suited,suitable,pleasant 等形容词后,用介词to 或 for均可.如：
Meat is necessary to [for] us all.肉食是我们大家所需要的.
Writing is difficult (easy) to me.写作对我来说很难(容易).
Exercise is good for [to] health.锻炼有益健康.
有时形容词之后接介词 for,可认为是其后省略了一个不定式.如：
This lesson is too difficult for me (to understand).这篇课文对我来说太难(理解)了.
② 关于 to 和 for 表示“对……来说”这一意义时,以下两种观点可以参考：
观点一：to只表示一般意义的“对……来说”(即意义较泛),而for却含有比较、限制、区别的作用,它不仅表示“对……来说”,而且含有“限于……来说”的意味.如：
English prepositions are difficult to almost all Chinese teachers and students of English,but they are not so difficult for my sister.英语介词对于中国几乎所有学英语的教师和学生来说都是很难的,但对于我姐姐来说并不算难.
The lioness is ugly to all of us,but she is a beauty for the lion.在我们大家看来母狮是很难看的,但对雄狮来说她却很美.
观点二：表示“对……来说”时,to强调主观,而for强调客观.如：
It was a useful lesson to [for] him.这对他来说是一个有益的教训.
上句中用 to 表示“他”(him)认为有用(即主观),若用for 则表示写这句话的人(the writer)认为有用(即客观).根据这种分析,to 不仅表示“对……来说”,而且还暗示有“在……看来”之意.
