Many countries in the world insure(确保) non-smokers' right to smoke-free air and to help smokers give up.
On July 1,1975,it became a crime(犯罪) in Norway to offer a cigarette to a child under 16. The new law, which today many countries are watching, also places a total ban on all tobacco advertising(广告) including tobacco shop window displays, fieldworkers throughout the country are conducting (进行) educational and anti-smoking activities.
In the United States, airlines are subject(忍受) to a fine(罚金) of $1,000 for failing to provide a smoke free seat for any passenger who wants one. The interstate commerce commission (州际商委会) has made “no smoking”a rule on all INTERSTATE passenger trains and buses.
A growing number of restaurants now offer separate areas for nonsmokers. A ban on television and radio cigarette ads, health warnings, and restrictions on smoking in public places in many states and cities make the United States one of the members who take part in non-smoking and anti-smoking efforts across the globe. The number of U.S.non-smokers is rising as well.
