新概念第55课的一个问题,请朋友们指点下,
the leader of the party was examining the soil near the entrance to the cave when the machine showed that there was gold under the ground.请问这里的near是什么词性?怎么连接the soil 和the entrance to the cave 顺便划一下主谓宾等整个句子的成分,

but作连词,连接两个完整句子时,要加逗号.但是连接一句之内的两个并列成分时,不需要加逗号.
