我知道how soon用将来时,但这里为什么用how long?各自有什么不同?
Do you have a table for two?
I'm sorry,__there aren't any seats now.
A.and B.but 已经说sorry了,为什么还用but?

how long与how soon都可以用来提问时间.
但是how long一般用于提问完成时,例如：
How long have you been there?-I have been there for 3 years.
而how soon是用于提问将来时的,例如：
How soon will you arrive here?-I will arrive here in 3 hours.

这里用but是固定说法,表示一种遗憾.比如 i am sorry but you are fired!我很抱歉你被炒鱿鱼了.你记住这种固定用法就行了.
man和woman作定语变复数时,要与名词中心词一起都变成复数.如：men teachers男教师,women teachers女教师,women soldiers女兵
所以是 women 下面的用sport
选repairing need doing = need to be done 不过前者更地道
选understood make sb done 表示一种被动关系
