今天翻出旧书,《许国璋英语》第二册,第二课The golden touch中见到这么一句,He got up next morning.When he touched his bed,it turned to gold.这就让我奇怪了.原来我们一直恪守一个教条,即the next morning 表示过去的第二天上午,而没有the ,即next morning 表示明天早上.这里怎么不遵守这个规则呢.许国璋教材虽老,但素以经典闻名,还是我们原来学的太保守,其实next morning 也可以表示过去的第二天的早上.

next morning是泛指的第二天早上,而the next morning特指以说话时为现在的第二天,多用在间接表示中
