求教!新概念2 62课 课文居然有错误!
Lesson62《 After the fire 》开头一句就错了----Firemen had been fighting the forest fire for nearly three weeks before they could （注意!就是这个could错了吧!）get it under control.
我觉得应该用were able to吧?因为在我们需要表明一个动作已经成功完成时 必须用was(were) able to 形式,而不能用could!这在第43课《飞越南极》的key structures里详细讲解过了.
又例如：
he was able to leave China before japanese came into China.
他在鬼子来中国前就得以离开中国了.
请英语高手 帮忙定断! 谢谢

没有这么严格,用could 也行.不是必须用was(were) able to .不过从这可以看出你很认真哦!
