replace (1+j)^3 with r,therefore:(1452-499)*r^2-499*r-499=0,
the solution for above equation is r=1.031318583,
hence j=r^(1/3)-1=1.0103324-1=0.010,
thus we can get nominal rate of interest j4=12*j=0.12≈12%.
1.2 according the question factor establish the equation 1452*(1+j)^6=499*[(1+j)^6+(1+j)^3+1],
replace (1+j)^3 with r,therefore:(1452-499)*r^2-499*r-499=0,
the solution for above equation is r=1.031318583,
hence j=r^(1/3)-1=1.0103324-1=0.010,
thus we can get nominal rate of interest j4=12*j=0.12≈12%.
