Here comes the facekini
The facekini is a popular type of swimming gear in China. It has caught the attention of the international fashion world thanks to Carine Roitfeld, former chief editor of Vogue Paris. Roitfeld released a facekini-themed photo shoot in her magazine CR Fashion Book.
In the photographs, models wear facekinis in different colors and patterns. These beautiful models enjoy summer, but avoid exposure to the sun.
Roitfeld said, "Western beauty-seekers like to tan their skin in summer. However, in Asia, beauty-seekers are more likely to prevent their skin from being tanned. They use umbrella and wear long-sleeve tops on sunny days."
The facekini first appeared in China about eight years ago, but few people wore them at that time. It became popular as people were increasingly aware of sun damage in recent years.
In 2012, the facekini became a new trend in China. Beachgoers covered their faces with the bizarre mask. It covers the entire head and neck down to the collar bone.
