An eightyearold child heard her parents talking about her little brother. All she knew was that he was very sick and they were poor. When she heard her dad say to her tearful mother. “Only a miracle(奇迹)can save him now”, the little girl hurried to the chemist’s (药店)buy all her pocket money in hand.
“What do you want？”asked the chemist.
“My little brother is really, really sick and I want to buy a miracle. He has something bad growing inside his head and my daddy says only a miracle can save him.”
“We don’t sell miracles here, child. I'm sorry.”the chemist said, looking sadly at the little girl.
In the shop was a welldressed customer. He asked the little girl,“What kind of miracle does your brother need？”
“I don’t know，”she replied.“He’s really sick and mommy says he needs a(n) operation. But my daddy can’t afford it, so I have brought all my pocket money.”

“One dollar and eleven cents，”she answerred quietly.
“Well, what a coincidence(巧合)，”smiled the man.“A dollar and eleven cents the same price of a miracle for your little brother.”
That man was Dr Carlton Armstrong, a doctor. The operation was completed for free and it wasn’t long after the little brother was home and well again.
The little girl was happy. She knew exactly how much the miracle cost…one dollar and eleven cents…plus(加)the love of a little child.
