On May 23,the Beijing Olympics torch relay came to Shanghai for an exciting two-day run through the city.
Running in a sea of red
A big crowd gathered early at the Shanghai Museum for a ceremony to start the torch relay.It began with a minute of silence to remember the Sichuan earthquake victims.Then former Olympic swimming gold medallist (前奥运金牌得主),Zhuang Yong (庄泳),became the first torchbearer.She was greeted by a sea of red on the streets,from the red national flags in people’s hands to the red“Love China”logos on their faces and T-shirts.
Go China,go Sichuan
Among the 416 torchbearers were four who had been or would soon go to Sichuan to help in the relief (救援) effort.
Liao Changyong (廖昌永),a famous singer from Sichuan Province,was also a torchbearer.He said that he believed his hometown would regain its beauty.
Today,the torch relay is still moving on.Let‘s pass on care and courage!

人群很早就聚集在上海博物馆准备传递开始的仪式.仪式开始是1分钟的默哀,让我们铭记在四川大地震中不幸罹难的人们.然后前奥运金牌得主庄泳是第一位传递者,大街上,红色的海洋为她欢呼加油,人们手拿鲜红的国旗,T恤上印有LOVE CHINA的标志.
加油 中国,雄起 四川.
在这416名传递火炬的火炬手中,有4个都是曾在四川或者即将赶往四川进行救援工作.
